Corners Game

Goal

Pitch command as a measurable, scored skill.

Equipment needed

• Mound or flat ground
• Catcher with glove or X taped on a wall

Instructions

1. 1Pick a corner: glove-side low, arm-side low, glove-side high, arm-side high.
2. 2Throw 5 to that corner. 1 point per hit, 0 per miss.
3. 3Goal: 3 of 5 to each corner. Rotate after either hitting the goal or finishing the round.
4. 4Don't add effort when missing — subtract effort instead. Better command beats better velo.

Common mistakes

• Adding effort to miss less.
• Skipping the corner that's the weakness.

Why it works

Most kids practice command by feel. Forcing a score per corner makes the bad corner obvious — which is the corner that needs reps. Score everything.

Variations

• Pitch 'opposite hand': RHP must work to the arm-side corner only for 10 throws.

Make it a game

Total hits across 20 throws.

Reduce target size or add a 2-strike scenario after each hit.
